In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Notification of the Death of Grand Scholar Ayatullah At-Tabreezi

As narrated in the hadith: “If a scholar departs this world, a groove happens in Islam that will not be mended by anything”

Today the Islamic world received tragic news about one of the majestic icons of Islam, the servant of the knowledge of Ahlul-bayt(p), his eminence, the grand scholar, Ayatullah Sheikh Al-Mirza Jowad At-Tabreezi(may God’s peace and blessings upon him).

He received a sudden illness that put him in bed for a while, followed by his demise at the age of eighty years old on the evening of Monday, 28 of Shawwal, 1427 Hij. He spent most of his holy life in studying, teaching, research, and authoring books.

Ayatullah At-Tabreezi was one of the peaks of fiqh scholars in the two holy cities of Qom and Najaf. He remained in the Holy city of Najaf drinking from the spring of the light of Amirul-Mo’meneen Imam Ali(p), gaining knowledge from the gleams of the Ahlul-bayt(p).  Ayatullah At-Tabreezi studied under the supervision of great mentors such as Grand Ayatullah As-Sayyid Al-Khoi, Grand Ayatullah As-Sayyid Abdul Hadi As-Shirazi, and others.

He persevered in his studies until he became among the ones that were peaks in knowledge and education. He transferred to the holy city of Qom under extraordinary circumstances where he resided and continued his teachings and research for decades, until he became teacher of the highest two classes of the Islamic seminary (Howza) at the holy city of Qom .

Therefore it is with great sorrow that we would like to send our deepest condolences to our Hujjah Imam Al-Mahdi (p), as well as to all the grand scholars, and all the believers of the world. We ask the great Almighty to bestow His mercy upon him, and resurrect him with the great prophet and his pure progeny (p). We also pray to the Almighty to give health and strength to the rest of the grand scholars and to hasten the appearance of our grand master, Imam Al-Mahdi. Our Lord Allah is the all hearing answerer of our prayers.

Surely we belong to Allah SWT, and surely we return to Him,

I.M.A.M.
