This day marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (s.a.w.a.) as well as the birth of Imam al Sadi'q (a.s.), our 6th Imam.
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.a.) was born in on Friday, the 17th Rabi'-ul-Awwal, 1st year of 'Amul-Fil (corresponding to 570 C.E.) to bring the Message of God to the world.
Imam Ja'far b. Muhammad al Sadi'q (a.s.) was born in Medina in the year 83 A.H. (702 C.E.) His mother was Umm Farwa, the daughter of al-Qasim b. Muhammad b. Abi Bakr. His Imamate, peace be on him, lasted for thirty-four years. His father, Abu Jafar (Muhammad b. Ali), peace be on him, clearly gave him the trusteeship (of the Imamate) and gave him an explicit designation for the Imamate. |
