The Hellal Committee of the Conference of Shia Muslim Scholars in North America would like to announce that at sunset on Monday 5th of May, the new crescent was not seen. Also there has been no astronomical prediction of it being seen.

Statement regarding the beginning of the Month of Rabi Ath'thani 1429 A.H.


We would like to announce that the new crescent has been seen in a few areas in North America. This agrees with trusted astronomical calculation. Therefore, Monday April 7th 2008 is the first day of Rabi Ath'thani 1429.

In-sha-Allah, with the blessing of the birthday of our holly prophet, this will be a month of wellness, happiness and fulfillment for Muslims worldwide.

May Allah accept your work and increase your reward.
