Announcement regarding the New Crescent of the Month of Shawal 1429

To all the believers in North America

May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon all of you

"The Crescent Committee" of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars in North America would like to inform you that it has researched the New Crescent of the Month of Shawal, on Monday night, the 29th of Month of Ramadhan 1429 (September 29th, 2008) in different cities and states in North America and South America, and no sighting of the New Crescent was reported.

Therefore, God willing, Tuesday will be the 30th of the Holy Month of Ramadhan, which follows that Wednesday is the first day of the Month of Shawal, the day of Eid el-Fitr.

We ask the Almighty Allah to make it a rewarding and blessed day, and hasten the appearance of the 12th Holy Imam peace be upon him.
