In accordance with the guidance of the holy Prophet and Ahl ul Bayt (peace be upon them), which calls on the believers for piety and organization, The Tenth Annual Conference for the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars in North America was held in Dearborn, Michigan on the 7th of Thil Qi’da, 1431H, October 16th, 2010, in order to discuss some of the matters of importance to the believers living across North America.  The conference convened under the title “Personal Status Law for Muslims in North America: Marriage, Divorce, Wills and Inheritance,” in order to discuss a number of pending and difficult problems, and to come up with proper methods and solutions for these problems within the limits of divine and civil laws. 

The Tenth Annual Conference for the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars in North America was held in Dearborn, Michigan on the 7th of Thil Qi’da, 1431H, October 16, 2010. The Conference theme was “Personal Status Law for Muslims in North America: Marriage, Divorce, Wills and Inheritance”. The Conference discussed numbers of pending problems and issues to come up with proper methods and solutions to solve them.

The 9th Annual Conference of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars was held under the theme of “Religion, Society & Politics: In light of the theory of integration while preserving the religious beliefs and noble traditions.” It was attended by more than 40 members who were either religious scholars, speakers, advisors, preachers, those who have taken interest in religious matters as well as a number of chairmen and directors of Islamic centers from the Unites States of America and provinces of Canada, from different ethnicities and backgrounds, to research and discuss the parameters of citizenship and integration and the means and methods in which it can be activated in the Islamic communities across North America......

In a discussion with Sheikh Odeh Muhawesh regarding the efforts to promote the Christian-Muslim dialogue, he pointed out the efforts carried by University of St. Thomas Saint Paul MN. We would like to share their URL with everyone so these efforts become more widely known.

This conference has been distinguished by an introductory speech given by His Eminence, Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Bashir al-Najafi to the audience which was spoken over the telephone by his son: His eminence Sheikh Ali Najafi.  The speech contained several recommendations and advice regarding the task of preaching in the west.  Another distinguishing factor in the conference was the presence and participation of a significant number of experts from various scientific disciplines and fields of our society, those of which the Shi’ite community of North America are proud of, and whom put a great amount of work and effort in investing what God has graced upon them in this country, providing important services to society.

The Iraqi community, specifically through Haj Aby al-Abbas al-Jabery, extended an invitation to Sayyid Kashmiri to come and join their community in its three day celebration of the Birth of The Holy Prophet and his grandson, al-Imam al Sadiq, on Monday the 24th, 2008.

The director of IMAM visited on Sunday March 23rd, 2008 the brothers and sisters in the City of Birmingham and joined them with their celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet and the Holy Imam al-Sadik.
